Eugene firms launch custom-made boot website
EUGENE, Ore. - As Wall Street continues to gyrate, a local family business is forging ahead using the power of the Internet to compete worldwide in the market for custom-made boots.
Baker's Shoes and Boots and custom software maker Lunar Logic teamed up on a new website to put worldwide boot sales on more solid footing.
Buildaboot.com allows visitors to visualize a custom-made boot order in three dimensions before placing an order.
"The actual time on the site has been pretty high just because people spend hours on it," said Gene Baker, owner of Baker's Shoes and Boots.
Baker's shoes laced up the idea in the past 5 months with Lunar Logic.
"The system actually for each individual boot creates 338 million different pictures that represent that boot," said Todd Edman, CEO of Lunar Logic.
Change the eyelets, the sole, the leather colors - all of that is possible.
Baker's sees buildaboot.com as a breakthrough to expand their international footprint.
