Lack of snow won't kill north county snowshoe hikes
FITCHBURG — Snow lovers are wondering when winter's first snowfall will happen. So is Laurie Nehring of the North County Land Trust, as she prepares for her series of snowshoe hikes.Not to worry, folks. Ms. Nehring says that even if there is no snow, her hikes — whether with snowshoes or just plain walking shoes — will be fun for the whole family.
“There is already a lot of interest in our evening Full Moon Walk at the Crocker Conservation area in Fitchburg. I encourage people to call or email us early so we can figure out how many pairs of snowshoes we will need to order. You can rent a pair ($2 for land trust members, $4 for nonmembers) or you can bring your own,” said Ms. Nehring.
If there is snow cover, Ms. Nehring says that animal tracks will be just one of the things that she will point out on the trail.
