OUR TOWN: New Baltimore historians host Confederate and Union speakers

Tomorrow night, at 7 p.m., the New Baltimore Historical Society is hosting two interesting gentlemen from re-enactment regiments, the 8th Arkansas, Leo Tomaczeski (south) and the 15th Michigan, Roy Barrels, (north). They will be in uniform and displaying their muskets. They will share their version of the Civil War (150th anniversary in 2011), and explain the uniform, what they ate and how they lived and survived during the conflict. Both of the regiments and the 14th South Carolina and the 22nd Michigan will camp at City Park for the weekend at the Historical Society's 21st History Fair, Sept. 24-25. Mr. Tomaczeski, of Fraser, has participated in over 150 re-enactments with the largest in Franklin, Tennessee where over 1,500 re-enactors and their families convened. Jackson, Michigan is the headquarters of the 15th Michigan regiment.
