ECCO focus shifts to BIOM and the Street
The majority of players at the PGA Tour’s McGladrey Classic this week will arrive on the first tee sporting the traditional dress-shoe-inspired golf footwear to which we’ve grown accustomed. That’s what you’d expect right? It’s one of the game’s staple looks. I’d be willing to bet also the golf shoe you’re wearing today is similar to what you wore in the 1980s. I still have a pair of 30-year-old FootJoy Classics that frankly don’t look much different than what I wear now.
Everyone is of course walking and playing in superior product.
Perhaps as much as any category in the industry technology has advanced the performance standards of golf footwear. Comfort, platform, stability, breathability, moisture management and durability all have been strongly influenced by research and development. It’s come to a point today where golf shoes come straight out of the box ready to go. That’s a good thing. Being a notorious blister guy I can assure you I’ve gone through my fair share of Band-Aids in the past.
