From Kano to Owo, in Ondo State and Owo to Ariara market in Aba, Abia State, the story is a sweet one, coming from the shoe making industry. And so, when the journey took off in the last week of November last year from Agbara, in Lagos, it was expected to terminate at Abuja, the new duty post. It was the first time the journey to Abuja was being made by road. And as the tortuous travel continued, the passenger seated next to the driver announced: “Yes, we are now in Akure, heading towards Owo.” Instantly, there was this excitement that roused within me.
Once in Owo, it was an opportunity to take time off to look round this much talked-about sleepy town, in Ondo State.
Sweet enough, Owo is alive to the rhythm of the late November sun, and located along one of the in-roads in the ancient town is Tade Giwa’s makeshift stall.
