Kohl's at Fairlane Village has a 'soft opening'
The awaited Kohl's department store had a "soft opening" Sunday at Fairlane Village mall, Pottsville.
Kohl's, occupies the site previously used by Value City. Eric Hollen, store manager, said Kohl's has everything a family will need in terms of clothing and items to outfit the home.
He said the "soft opening" of the store was at 9 a.m. Sunday, while the grand opening will be held at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
"It was a nice reception for it being a soft opening and not the grand opening," Hollen said. "There was a lot of anticipation, so when we opened the doors, there was a crowd coming in both doors."
At the grand opening to be held Wednesday, there will be a ribbon cutting, local dignitaries and Kohl's representatives speaking and a kick-off advertisement that runs companywide in celebration of the new stores. Eight new Kohl's will be opening across the county.
The new Pottsville store is a complete renovation, leaving virtually no trace of its former occupant. It even has a new ceiling, roof and drop-ceiling.
