Dad Delivers Bend's First Baby of New Year
BEND, Ore. -- "I had one contraction that made me go, 'Oh my God, I need to get dressed right now!'" Amy Hale's baby wasn't due until Wednesday, so when the Bend mom started feeling labor pains on New Year's Eve, she thought she had some time to wash up before heading to the hospital. Little did she know: Little Alia Lee had some other plans. "I was walking out the door, she was walking back in, and she said, 'The baby's coming!' I didn't know what she meant -- and I looked down, and there was the top of the baby's head," said Joe Hale. With no time to spare, Joe was in unfamiliar territory, and at 3:00 in the morning on New Year's Day, that's when he started playing "Doctor Dad." "So I told her to get on the floor -- I mean, we were right inside our front door," Joe recalled. "By that time, one arm was out, and the baby's whole head. So I told her to push -- and one push, and there she was." A 6-pound 15-ounce, 19-inch healthy baby girl.

Where did you get your baby's first proper shoes from? Is there any choice other than Clarks and Start Rite?
Clarks. They are expensive but I worry that shoes that aren't properly fitted will damage her feet. I've never tried Startrite. I agree that it's best to get the shoes from Brantano once Clarks have measured their feet. It's about a tenner cheape
