The long way home (Part IV)
I returned to the hotel in the city of Omsk and found my room ready. After a much-needed shower and short nap, I ventured back out, heading in the opposite direction from which I had explored in the morning. I found myself in a working-class part of town which featured stores catering to the neighborhood residents. There was a delightful bakery where for 15 rubles (about 60 cents) one could buy a loaf of bread or a delicious, fresh-baked pastry. I stopped in a grocery and took a photo of the fascinating selection of fresh fish displayed in a glass-fronted cooler. Later I turned back toward the main part of town and ate supper at a trendy "Italian" restaurant that catered to the younger set.
